AMANDA BURROWS I PRINCIPAL
Amanda (she/her) is located in Vancouver, Canada on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Lands and has 15 years of experience raising funds for non-profits. She is focused on using her skill set to build stronger communities and created Philanthropy Aide as a solution to the growing need for both organizations and donors to have a strategist and coach aide them in achieving their philanthropic goals.
She is the Director of Development at a low barrier service provider in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside after spending several years working with a foundation that provides capacity building support to the nonprofit sector. Previous work experience includes the Guggenheim NYC and the Art Gallery of Ontario, and senior development roles at Vancouver Opera and the Museum of Vancouver. As a connector and teacher Amanda develops programs and curriculum that accelerates philanthropic behaviour, and volunteers with organizations, political campaigns and projects encouraging inclusion and civic engagement. Currently, Amanda sits on the Chinatown Foundation Fundraising Committee for the Chinatown Storytelling Project, and is part of the team that created DTES Response -- a frontline fundraising and support network to ensure COVID 19 does not disproportionately affect our most vulnerable. She is also a board member for Pivot Legal Society that uses the law to get to the root causes of poverty and social exclusion.
Amanda has a degree in Art History from the University of Victoria, a Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto, and a certificate in Fundraising Management from Ryerson. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), and recently obtained her Public Leadership Credential (PLC) from Harvard Kennedy School.
